Convert electricity and sand into solar panels!

According to reports Immena, A Luxembourg-based startup called Maana Electric aims to help combat climate change by sending boxes in the form of metal warehouses to Earth’s deserts that can build solar panels using electricity and sand.

If all goes according to plan, the company hopes to help meet the energy needs of future space colonies by sending its boxes to the moon, Mars and beyond.

These boxes are called “Terrabox” very simple. As Mana Electric explains on its website: Trabax is a fully automated plant capable of producing solar panels using sand and electricity as inputs.

These small factories can be placed and moved inside containers, which means that they can be moved to remote desert locations where they can produce the solar panels needed to produce clean solar energy.

In addition to helping to tackle climate change, this revolutionary product could also help reduce the dependence of renewable energy operators on China, which often produces the world’s photovoltaic solar panels.

Mana Electric has announced that it will test its technology in 2022 and will also develop its Trabax version for the moon, which will be designed to convert lunar soil called regolite into high-purity silicon. Theoretically, this device can produce one megawatt of solar panels per year. The process of making these solar panels also releases oxygen as a by-product that can be used by astronauts to breathe in space.

“Trabox” is designed for “Mana Electric” lighter space so that it can be easily transferred to space.

As NASA’s Artemis and Moon Gate missions are planned to establish a sustained human presence on the moon from 2024, Trabax technology could contribute to that sustained presence in our nearest celestial neighbor.

According to the German solar technology company Desertec; Covering a small part of sub-Saharan Africa with solar panels can provide enough energy for the entire planet. So it is conceivable that the creation of large solar fields on the moon will have consequences.

If the plans of NASA and companies like Mana Electric are successful, the moon with a lot of energy capacity can act as a launching pad for humanity to prepare itself for a space civilization.
