Nvidia will end its support for Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 drivers later this year. Nvidia drivers will be available for Windows 10 only from October, and Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 will only receive security updates until September 2024 (September 1403).
Microsoft has now stopped supporting Windows 7 and 8, and its extensive support for Windows 8.1 will cease in January 2023 (December 1402). Nvidia has announced in this regard:
Most of our GeForce users have moved to Windows 10. Nvidia will now focus on Windows 10 for the best security, support and performance.
There are currently 1.3 billion active users of Windows 10, but Windows 7 is still used in some parts of the world. According to Statcounter, about 15% of all Windows users use the Windows 7 operating system. However, more than 93% of Steam users use the Windows 10 operating system, and the share of Windows 7 in this store is less than 2%. A new version of Windows operating system called Windows 11 is expected to be introduced soon.
The latest Nvidia driver that supports Microsoft's previous generation operating systems will be released on August 31st. The company's drivers will be released for Windows 10 only from October 4 (October 12).
